We're Back

After addressing our security issues, we're back online. I must admit this whole hacking thing is very violating. It feels like a form of home invasion. Oh well, they say that what doesn't break you makes you stronger.

Victim of hacking

On 8-09 Schnew.com was a victim of a hacking that resulted in having to reload the site. It's pretty sad to me that someone didn't have anything else to do that day so they figured they would destory Schnew.com. Actually, now that I think about it, I should feel flattered that they picked Schnew.com as a target. That means that they felt threatened is some way by the site.

After the first week, the traffic to the site averages over 100 visitors per day, which is MUCH better than I would have ever thought it would be.


The cast iron tub that was listed in Montclair brought in a lot of traffic from CL. I figured since I was the one that found the shop owner that wanted to get rid of it, I was the one that took the picture and I was the one who posted it, I figured that Schnew should benefit from the traffic.

The tub created immediate responses, the owner told me someone called 5 minutes after I posted it.

She's going to keep it listed until someone actually picks it up. The tub itself is extremely heavy, I would have to guess at least 5 or 600 pounds. Who ever takes it better be ready to do some serious lifting and hauling.

What's Schnew? I always wanted to start a Free Classified. For as long as I can remember, I've been buying and selling used stuff. I can remember as a child trading Hot Wheels, then AFX cars, T-shirts and anything else that caught my eye.

I am very interested in seeing how large this can get. CL had to start somewhere. Schnew.com launched 4-26-08 at 6:00PM, as of today at 8:34pm we have gotten 200 visitors and 53 post, which if you have ever launched a site from scratch with only guerrilla marketing, know that's pretty good. To average over 100 visitors per day after two days with no advertising tells you how much people like posting and reading ads.

I thank everyone that takes the time to post on Schnew.com, and for having the faith in the site to potentially have their ad seen by someone that is interested in their product or service.


Let's see how far this can go.
